MESSAGE OF AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY, AYŞE HİLAL SAYAN KOYTAK, ON AUGUST 30 VICTORY DAY

Kuveyt Büyükelçiliği 30.08.2020

We are proud to be celebrating the 98th anniversary of the final victory of the War of Independence of our country, 30th of August each year is celebrated as the “Victory Day”. On 30 August 1922, the Turkish Army won the final battle of the war, in Dumlupınar, against the invading forces.

I remember with mercy and gratitude Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the commander-in-chief of our War of Independence and all those who ensured this victory.

May Allah’s mercy be upon all our martyrs.

This year we are celebrating the 98th anniversary of this glorious victory, followed by foundation of the Republic of Turkey one year later. In addition to emerging as an exemplary inspiration for many nations living under foreign rule, the new Republic declared in 1923, as a modern, prosperous, strong and peaceful state and society, has become an actor ensuring peace and stability in its region and beyond.

Turkey, by employing its defense and security capabilities, is helping to the establishment and maintenance of peace and security in its region and the world. Turkey is among the countries providing uniformed and civilian personnel to the peacekeeping operations deployed in various areas around the world.

Furthermore, Turkey ensures peace; security and stability by standing against the challenges in its geography. Turkey today does not hesitate to defend its land, sea and skies and it does not allow terrorists give damage to its citizens.

The struggle that the Turkish Armed Forces wage inside and outside our borders to preserve our national permanence is the most obvious proof of this.

Turkey also attaches importance to the defense industry for maintaining national sovereignty and interests in the modern world. We have increased the rate of our nationally produced arms, ammunition and equipment to 70% in our Armed Forces.

Furthermore, Turkish defense industry companies are exporting products to many parts of the world. This year seven Turkish Defense Industry companies took part in the top 100 largest and most prestigious defense companies of the world.

The relations between Turkey and Kuwait are based on strong ties between our leaders and peoples, as well as on cultural and historical bonds. I am proud that the bonds of partnership and friendship between Turkey and Kuwait are as strong as ever, under the guidance and leadership of His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and His Highness Amir Sheikh Sabah.

On this occasion, I pray to Allah Almighty to bestow good health and wellness on His Highness the Amir and I also pray for the end of Covid-19 pandemic which shows us the value of international cooperation, as the challenges we face are of transboundary nature.

I would like to end my words by expressing my happiness in celebrating the 98th anniversary of our Victory Day in the friendly country of Kuwait.

Ayşe Hilal Sayan Koytak
