August 30th Victory Day Recetion of the Republic of Türkiye
Esteemed General Mohammad Al-Anezy,
Excellencies,
Fellow Ambassadors,
Distinguished Military Attachés,
Members of the Diplomatic Corps,
Ladies and Gentlemen.
Assalamu Aleykum,
I will begin my words by thanking each one of you for being here with us today to share our joy and pride on the Victory Day of the Republic of Türkiye.
We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of a great victory, which is one of the cornerstones of our centuries-old history.
Today’s activity is also my first diplomatic reception that I am hosting since assuming my post in Kuwait. So, it is important for me personally, too.
Alhamdulillah, the relations between Türkiye and Kuwait have reached an “exemplary” level and continue to grow stronger under the guidance of His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf.
On the other hand, there is still a wide cooperation potential ahead of us. Therefore, as the new Turkish ambassador in Kuwait, I will be trying hard to deepen our relations with Kuwait in every field.
Dear guests,
August 30th is one of our history’s most critical milestones when our nation thwarted the hopes of imperialist intentions on its existence, and laid the groundwork for the foundation of our Republic.
The spirit, faith and will, which inspired the great victory 100 years ago, guide our nation today, too.
The most important manifestations of this are our achievements in the areas from defense industry, economy and foreign policy to energy, and our fight against DAESH, PKK/PYD/YPG, FETO and all the other terrorist organizations that threaten our country’s unity and integrity.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Victories in war are won with military force, which depends on defense industry, especially in today’s modern world. In light of this fact, we are proud that Türkiye has achieved self-sufficiency in defense industry products by 70%. We have currently seven defense companies among 100 biggest companies in the world.
We believe that the establishment of peace, security, stability and welfare in our region and beyond depends on the creation of a fair balance in defense industry. The more we develop our national defense capacity, the more we contribute to the regional and global peace. Indeed, Türkiye acts in a spirit of building a zone of peace and cooperation and developing good-neighborly relations in its environment. As President Erdoğan always underlines, there is no winner in a war and no loser in a just peace. Therefore, we have maintained our efforts and ensured the implementation of the grain corridor agreement. We have thereby contributed to the global supply security in a period of imminent food crisis.
Today, our country has become a hope for not only its 85 million citizens living inside its borders, but also for its millions of friends, brothers and sisters living in different parts of the world.
We owe a debt of gratitude to all heroes of our War of Independence, first and foremost Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and gallant soldiers of our military.
Speaking of military, let us watch a short video-clip about the Turkish Armed Forces, as visuals are more powerful than words.
Distinguished guests,
Now, I would like to read the message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on theoccasion of the Victory Day: “Today, we are living the rightful pride of reaching the 100th anniversary of the Great Victory.
I congratulate our brothers and sisters in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and all of our citizens living all across the world on August 30 Victory Day.
I thank on my behalf of myself, my country and nation all of our friends who share our joy of festival.
Our nation, whose history is full of glorious victories, ended the liberation struggle, which it waged despite every kind of poverty and deprivation, with a clear and undisputable victory on August 30, 1922.
It was once again registered with the Great Victory that the lands on which we today live freely are our eternal homeland.
The August 30 serves as the clearest evidence of what the Turkish nation can achieve and what it can sacrifice when forced to choose between slavery and liberty.
Instead of staying under the yoke of the enemy even for a single day, our nation walked to the martyrdom with a bravery that scared the death itself, and defended its freedom and future.
Lastly, the incidents that took place on the night of July 15 have once again shown that the unwavering will that inspired the Great Offensive is still alive in hearts.
With the strength it draws from its history, Türkiye determinedly advances on the path to building a bright and prosperous future for itself.
Our country, which has successfully managed the coronavirus pandemic that has deeply shaken the entire humanity, is now taking steps to turn the global economic crisis into an opportunity as well.
Türkiye takes the place it deserves in the new world system with its growing production capacity, its exports that break new records every month and the projects it implements in defense industry as well as the responsibilities it assumes in the solution of regional problems.
The year 2023, when we will be celebrating the 100th year of our Republic, will inshallah mark a new milestone at which we give the good news about building the great and powerful Türkiye.
With these thoughts in my mind, I remember with gratitude Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, who is the founder of our Republic and the Commander-in-Chief of the Great Offensive, and his comrades-in-arms.
I wish Allah’s mercy upon our august martyrs, who breathed their last for the sake of our homeland as if hey had been stepping into a rosary, and remember with gratitude our ghazis.
May our martyrs rest in peace.
Happy Victory Day.”
